Dr Tilli's story: What advice do you have for other patients on their journey with osteoporosis?
Dr Tilli shares several pieces of advice since being diagnosed. She mentions that it is important to know your baseline state of health of your bones and recommends getting a DXA scan. It is also important to know if any family history of osteoporosis exists. Dr Tilli also says to avoid stress as much as possible, as well as the mindset that osteoporosis only affects older white women, since bone loss happens in the black community as well.

Shelley explains that her specialist connected her with American Bone Health as an educational resource. Combined with her deep interest for learning, this led her on a positive path towards self-education and research about her condition, as well as gave her a plan of action.

Shelley describes that the biggest challenge she faced was having only limited success with her medications compared to other patients. As a person who likes to stay active however, the greatest benefit from her medications has been the prevention of fractures.
